I just received my copy of Céramique, a new book just published in France. There are 90 artists featured and I'm excited to be included alongside some of my favorite artists working in contemporary ceramics. This beautifully designed book was compiled and edited by Charlotte Vannier of Pyramyd Editions. The text is all in French, but it's still a wonderful art book to look at if you don't speak French. Available for purchase here.

The Carrot Babies just made their debut in Repurposed at ICOSA Collective in Austin! Here are the show details:
EXHIBITION DATES: July 5 – August 3, 2019 Repurposed is a group exhibition co-curated by Erin Cunningham and Amanda Linn McInerney, both members of the artist-run gallery ICOSA Collective. This exhibition focuses on artworks that have been created from discarded and undervalued materials that possess a status of the imbued history of those objects. The diverse group of artists, from six different states, are known for their ability to elevate their materials and refine their craft through a variety of techniques. When developing the concept for this exhibition, the curators both had recent experiences that made them consider the impact of consumerism on the environment and on personal psychology. It seemed there was enough “stuff” in the world. They realized how important it was to feature works of art that reused materials and reconceptualized them into things that were beautiful, sometimes humorous or tongue in cheek, but also thoughtful and meaningful. The show draws upon family connections, folklore, and cultural and personal histories to create works that repeat and reconstruct forms and ideas. PARTICIPATING ARTISTS Carolina Alamilla (Miami, FL) Doug Baulos (Birmingham, AL) Michael Bonadio (Birmingham, AL) Melanie Brauner (Everett, WA) Debra Broz (Van Nuys, CA) Zach Clark (Oakland, CA) Erin Cunningham (Austin, TX) Tobias Flores (Hays, KS) Vladimir Mejia (Austin, TX) Amanda McInerney (Austin, TX) Karri Paul (Los Angeles, CA) Jerry Slayton (Austin, TX) Shalena White (Austin, TX) Jason Tanner Young (Montevallo, AL) I'm excited to have work in 2 venues for B-LA Connect, an international exchange between art spaces in Berlin and Los Angeles. Thursday, April 11 at 7pm at Track 16 Gallery in the Bendix Building, DTLA. Additional info here. Below image: a series of works from my White Rabbits installation. See images of the entire series here. ![]() I'll be showing a new body of work in the back gallery at Track 16 as part of Stuck Together: Marsian De Lellis, Simone Gad & Debra Broz. Over the past 2 months, I've collected and altered 25 ceramic rabbits originally created in the 1950s and '60s by the Japanese company Lefton. White rabbits are albinos created by selective breeding and have been a prime source for fur and animal testing, but they are also a symbol of Easter and the catalyst that brought Alice to Wonderland. My White Rabbits are a study of variations on a single form, each alteration is a walk into the realm of possibility with an animal that represents the dual worlds of science and magic. From the press release: Track 16 presents “Stuck Together,” an exhibition featuring Marsian De Lellis, Simone Gad, and Debra Broz. The three Los Angeles-based artists create a handmade response to mass-produced images and objects, re-contextualizing and re-purposing through collage and assemblage. The work consists of anthropomorphic imagery—animals and representations of bodies. Each artist imparts into the work an aura that is both ludic and obsessive, and each artist gives attention to objects and creatures that might be discarded, and instead reworks, reinvents, and gives the objects a chance to stand up, warts and all. Runs through May 11. See the press release for more about the exhibit here. Stuck Together opens Saturday, March 16, 7-10 pm and will be up through May 11 at Track 16 Gallery, 1206 Maple Ave, #1005, Downtown, Los Angeles, 90015 Photo by Sean Meredith, Track 16
